The front exhaust heat shield on the header for the BMW R 1300 R was specially developed for the thermally highly stressed area of the boxer engine and protects both the carbon itself and adjacent components from extreme heat exposure. Thanks to the precise adaptation to the contour of the header, optimal heat dissipation is ensured, while at the same time the weight reduction compared to the standard component is clearly noticeable. Ilmberger Carbon combines maximum temperature resistance with its characteristic lightweight construction – a functional upgrade that underlines the performance philosophy of the R 1300 R. The exact fit guarantees tool-free installation and integrates seamlessly into the lines of the boxer engine.
Innovative material: BDC
The material used, the innovative BDC, gives the component a unique touch. The surface of each BDC part is unique and reminiscent of marble. BDC is laminated by hand at Ilmberger and cured in several stages in the autoclave. It impresses with its exciting appearance and technical properties. The different fibers scatter the incoming light and create a previously unknown reflection.
The final clear coat layer in a satin-matte finish emphasizes the special visual properties of the material.
Unique protection and depth effect
To optimally protect the high-quality material, we use a specially developed plastic coating on all surfaces. In combination with our clear coat, this creates a unique depth effect that particularly highlights the quality of the material.
