The front exhaust heat shield on the header for the BMW R 1300 R was specially developed for the thermally highly stressed area of the boxer engine and protects both the carbon itself and adjacent components from extreme heat exposure. Thanks to the precise adaptation to the contour of the header, optimal heat dissipation is ensured, while at the same time the weight reduction compared to the standard component is clearly noticeable. Ilmberger Carbon combines maximum temperature resistance with its characteristic lightweight construction – a functional upgrade that underlines the performance philosophy of the R 1300 R. The exact fit guarantees tool-free installation and integrates seamlessly into the lines of the boxer engine.

Innovative material: BDC

Manufactured from the innovative BDC material, the component gains a unique touch. The surface of each BDC part is unique and reminiscent of marble. The BDC is laminated by hand and cured in several stages in the autoclave. The different fibers scatter the incoming light and create a previously unknown reflection.

The final clear coat layer in a glossy finish emphasizes the luxurious sporty look of the component.

Protection and quality

To protect against environmental influences, we use a specially developed plastic coating on all surfaces. In combination with our clear coat, this creates a unique depth effect that particularly highlights the high quality of the material.
