Showroom and Museum in Oberhaching: Experience Over 70 Years of Racing History

Showroom1.jpg

In the new showroom of Ilmberger Carbon in Oberhaching near Munich, current carbon components meet more than 70 years of racing history. The connected museum showcases the motorsport tradition of three generations of the Ilmberger family. Every racing motorcycle and road motorcycle exhibited in the motorcycle museum is an original in running condition.

The New Showroom at the Oberhaching Location

The roots of Ilmberger Carbon lie in the paddock. Julius Ilmberger founded the company in 1990. Since then, a small production facility for personal use has developed into an internationally active manufacturer. This development was also meant to become visible at the company headquarters.

For this purpose, the former smaller exhibition room was completely renovated down to the foundations and rebuilt. The new showroom opened in January 2026. Ilmberger Carbon has thus created a place that combines current products and company history.

On the ground floor, you can see the latest carbon parts from Ilmberger. One floor above, the museum shows the history from which they emerged. In this way, the company’s present and origins are united under one roof.

What Can You Expect in the New Showroom?

In the Ilmberger Carbon showroom, you can see current carbon parts for road motorcycles and the racetrack. One floor above, the museum features race-ready racing motorcycles from three generations of the Ilmberger family.

The Latest Models from Ilmberger Carbon

In the exhibition area on the ground floor, Ilmberger Carbon presents its latest carbon parts for your road motorcycle. From up close, you can see what makes a high-quality carbon fiber component: the depth effect of the weave, the precise edges, and the carefully finished surface.

What distinguishes the displayed carbon parts:- Manufactured from prepreg, meaning a carbon fiber fabric already pre-impregnated with resin- Cured in an autoclave: under heat and pressure, the material gains its strength- Road approval through ABE [LINK: CHECK URL] (general operating permit), without individual inspection by the TÜV- Durable surface protection through the powder coating developed by Ilmberger as a primer beneath the clear coat- Classic carbon weave look or Black Diamond Carbon [LINK: CHECK URL], a manufacturing process with a focus on sustainability

From Racing Motorcycle to Road Motorcycle

What enhances a road motorcycle today was originally developed for the racetrack. As early as 2003, Ilmberger Carbon launched the first parts with ABE approval. Since then, approval has been expanded model by model, so that today the entire range of road parts is covered [CHECK].

This path becomes visible in the exhibition. You can see how insights gained from use on the racing motorcycle flow directly into components for everyday use. Julius Ilmberger Junior often tests aerodynamic components himself on the track before they go into series production.

Why Are All Motorcycles in the Museum in Running Condition?

All motorcycles in the Ilmberger Carbon museum are in running condition because the Ilmberger family has never understood motorcycles as mere decoration. Instead of replicas or empty shells, only original racing motorcycles and road motorcycles from several decades are displayed there. They retain their complete technology and could be started at any time.

Many exhibitions show replicas or vehicles without engines. The motorcycle museum of Ilmberger Carbon is different. There are no reproductions and no empty shells here, but real machines.

Each vehicle tells its story not only through its paintwork and race number, but through its complete technology.

What defines the exhibition:- Exclusively original motorcycles in running condition- Racing motorcycles and road motorcycles from several decades- Authentic testimonies to the family and company history- Direct connection between motorsport and product development
