Ducati Panigale V4 R 2026: Racing carbon from Ilmberger Carbon for the racetrack

The Ducati Panigale V4 R 2026 is the most uncompromising version of the Panigale series – a road-legal superbike icon developed as a homologation base for production-based racing. At its heart is the high-revving Desmosedici Stradale R, a V4 engine with just under 1,000 cubic centimeters of displacement, drawing its genes directly from MotoGP. Anyone who wants to fully exploit this potential on a closed circuit relies on consistent lightweight construction. This is exactly where the racing fairing from Ilmberger Carbon comes into play.

What technically distinguishes the Panigale V4 R?

The four-cylinder engine revs exceptionally high and, in combination with a racing exhaust system, delivers significantly increased peak performance compared to the standard trim. Consistent counterbalancer shafts, an extremely lightweight crankshaft, and titanium connecting rods ensure a rev-happy character and mechanical durability under full load.

Beyond the engine itself, the Panigale V4 R impresses with extensive aerodynamics and a highly advanced electronics package:

  • integrated winglets for additional downforce at high speeds
  • electronic rider aid package with traction, slide, and wheelie control
  • semi-active Öhlins suspension in the standard configuration, which can be precisely tuned for track use
  • compact, weight-optimized overall architecture as a basis for stock racing

For pure racing use, every gram saved counts. Without lighting, without a license plate holder, and with aerodynamically optimized add-on parts, the Panigale V4 R transforms into a focused trackday and competition machine.

Why carbon from Ilmberger for racing use?

Carbon – also referred to as carbon fiber, CFRP, or fiber-reinforced composite material – combines low weight with high stiffness. Ilmberger Carbon manufactures its components from prepreg, meaning pre-impregnated carbon fabrics in which the resin is already precisely dosed into the fibers at the factory. The parts are then cured in an autoclave under pressure and heat. This process creates a high fiber volume content, minimal air inclusions, and therefore maximum strength at the lowest possible weight.

The racing parts are manufactured in-house in Germany and laminated by hand in numerous work steps. How elaborate this process is can be seen in the insight into the production process as well as in the in-house development at Ilmberger Carbon. An important note in advance: these racing components do not have ABE (general operating approval) and are intended exclusively for use on closed racetracks.

The Ilmberger Carbon racing fairing in detail

The racing program for the Ducati Panigale V4 R forms a coordinated overall system. The individual components fit together precisely, use quick-release fasteners for lightning-fast maintenance and repair work in the pit box, and are designed to comply with common stock regulations.

Upper fairing racing

The upper fairing racing forms the aerodynamic front section of the system. The variable air intake corresponds to the standard specification and thus ensures full compatibility with all common stock regulations. Each upper fairing is produced in more than 30 work steps and delivers millimeter-precise fitment with optimal load distribution. Optionally, a separately available racing windscreen can be integrated to fine-tune the aerodynamics to the respective track conditions.

Lower fairing racing with closed oil catch pan

The lower fairing racing focuses on the closed pan design. It reliably catches escaping fluids and thus fulfills a key safety requirement of common stock regulations. A central opening allows controlled drainage of water during wet races. The component is prepared for both racing exhaust systems with high-mounted silencers under the tail and low-mounted systems – it is installed exclusively in combination with the Ilmberger Carbon racing fairing and the matching fairing bracket kit.

6-piece tail and seat kit

The 6-piece tail and seat kit completes the rear section. By eliminating the license plate holder and taillight, it improves aerodynamic efficiency and noticeably reduces weight. The tail kit is prepared for the installation of a GPS antenna, as commonly used in professional racing for lap timing and data acquisition. Practical: the original seat pad can continue to be used, ensuring a familiar seating position and proven comfort. A special mounting kit is available separately for reliable fastening.

Your advantages at a glance

  • Weight savings: lightweight construction in prepreg quality significantly reduces unsprung and moving masses.
  • Aerodynamics: coordinated surfaces and the production-compliant air intake optimize airflow.
  • Safety: the closed oil catch pan fulfills regulation-compliant requirements for competition.
  • Practicality: quick-release fasteners and preparation for a GPS antenna make everyday pit work easier.
  • Quality: millimeter-precise fitment from in-house manufacturing.
